yuch! the weather!

weather!!!

i work at the airport here in denver and today was horrible...i wake up at 4am, leave by 4:45 in order to get to the parking lot and take the shuttle to the airport...well, today when i went to start the car it was a little windy and snowing lightly but not sticking to the ground...when we had gotten to our assigned gates it was extremely windy and snowing so hard that our uniforms and everything we had on were iced over...we literally had icicles hanging on us...it was miserable! at the airport, the temperature is always colder or hotter than the rest of the denver metro area and windier because its out in the open...

every winter i say that this is the last winter i will work outside...but the truth is that i enjoy working at the airport and i enjoy the people i work with, well, at least most of them...its also... fun the pay isn't the best, but i like the benefits and the people...most of them are great!

long time no blog

april 1, 2009

its been a long time since i've blogged...got a job...kids sports...cooking...cleaning, etc., well, you all get the picture...plus, i had forgotten my password...too many passwords to remember at work and too many passwords to remember on my computer...now, i have a new toy a blackberry...

this is so cool, my children are 'concerned' that i 'may' not be able to understand all the techno involved with it...well, i don't, but i won't give them the satisfaction, so, i am asking people that have the same kind of phone to help me and then i impress my children later on with all my "savvy"...

i also impress them with my texting abilities i.e. my texting vocabulary...ttyl, brb,...etc. i am really slow to text but, i don't care....

now, i will practice how to put photos on my blog...ta ta for now!

long time, no blog

Trying to get all of my business in order....i have a new job working for the airlines here in denver (DIA)...trying to organize my household in adjusting to mom working! i haven't worked on a permanent basis (temp jobs here and there, on weekends) but, not the kind where my whole family is put into a state of chaos (in the beginning),...now, we have a sort of routine...we still have glitches, but its much better than it used to be....

I get up at 3:30am in order to be there by 5:15, i get out at 3:30...but, i love getting a paycheck, and i enjoy having 3 days off...i enjoy the people i work with, but i didn't like the very hot days and i don't enjoy the cold, cold, cold days!!!!

Like i said, i love getting that paycheck, its not much but its mine...without having to ask and explaining why i need this or that...i also like the benefits that the airlines offer....

OOPS! I goofed...i posted my last post twice...sorry

too much to do, too little time

Time goes by so fast...lately, it seems to be faster than usual... i haven't been able to keep up with posting on my blog, too much to do and now with soccer season at a slower pace, still not finished because we have a few of the kids in indoor and the other kids traveling on tournaments...yasin just came back from dallas, usama is going to orlando, florida on thanksgiving day, sabri is going to st. louis, mo (dec 1st) and then anis and sabri are both going to orlando around xmas, yes, i know, too many tournaments (and expensive, too), i work bingo and the pepsi center (here in denver) our events center...and the boys try to work as referees for soccer games...most of the time they don't want to ref but, i tell them they can make in one weekend more than they make in one month (tax free!) they don't understand the concept, but, i'm happy that they are willing to work

i'm still trying to post some pictures, still haven't had the time to figure this out...my friend is back from libya and i know she'll help me figure it out...i'm glad my buddy is back, i shore did miss her...also, my big baby siraj is coming back from school around the middle of december for the xmas break...

i don't know about anyone else, but, its very hard when my "bebes" are away...i miss them so much, even if its for a few days...i'm not a clingy mom, really i'm not...i just miss their spirit, they are very independent children and i'm glad they are, i just wish that the older they get, that they stay like they were when they were younger, thankfully, my boys are more affectionate with me than most boys are wth their parents...so i will count my blessings..ta, ta for now...

A New Beginning

August 11, 2006

Hello, this is teresa/iman...i have started a new blog, i'm not quite sure what happened to the other one, all i know is that i spent many days trying to figure it all out...i will not spend anymore time on that old blog..so, a new beginning and a new start...please bear with me while i experiment with the "blogosphere" , posting pictures, etc.

Anyway, as i stated in my old blog, i am an american woman living in the united states with 7 children...i have been married for more than 22 years to a man from libya...my family (grandparents) came from mexico and i have been raising my children tri-culturally, i speak to my children in spanish and english, i wish they knew my husband's language (arabic) but, my husband thought it might be too difficult... nonetheless, they are being raised in three different cultures (american, mexican and arabic), we are also muslim and within the muslim community my children are exposed to people from all over the world...my theory is that this makes them more well rounded and gives them a better understanding of different peoples...i believe that knowledge is power! most americans in my opinion have very little knowledge of other cultures and beliefs, ironic isn't it, when we are the melting pot of the modern world or so we have thought...anyway, from my own little niche, i have tried to raise my children with an understanding of others...

I traveled to libya in 1990 when i only had 3 children, we were there for 6 months and i really enjoyed much of it...i am thankful that i have wonderful in-laws, it was difficult at times because of a lack of transportation (no car), also, i didn't speak the language, but i learned quickly, i have forgotten some of it, but i still have to communicate with my libyan family. there are certain things i refuse to be without, one of those things is a decent washing machine and dryer (for the winter months), i found the country and people fascinating, so many things that people around the world don't know about libya...because i love archaeology and anthropology, i loved visiting sabratha (ancient greek and roman ruins), even though it became difficult at times, it was a wonderful experience...

As i have said, i have 7 children, with the exception of my oldest son (he plays soccer in college) they all play competitive soccer here in colorado. i have 5 boys and 2 girls: siraj (21), safia (18), sabri (17), aneese (15), usama (13), yasin (12) and jamila (9)...they are on the top teams for their various age groups and we travel to different tournaments all over the country...my oldest has gotten an academic and athletic scholarship (partly due to soccer)...anyway, it keeps them busy and out of trouble, there's a lot more involved witih soccer than soccer, there's the discipline; and so many other things...
